Livorno Music Festival

Livorno Music Festival and Summer Academy, now in its 16th edition, takes place from 10 August to 8 September 2026 across 18 of Livorno’s most significant venues, with additional events in Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Pontedera, and in the ports of Piombino, Rio Marina, and Capraia. Organized by the Associazione Amici della Musica di Livorno with the support of 28 partners, the Festival promotes the cultural and environmental richness of the region through an immersive experience that brings together music, history, and landscape.
More than 220 artists take part, including 70 internationally renowned musicians, over 100 young talents from 30 countries, a 15‑member saxophone orchestra, and a 50‑piece guest orchestra. The programme features 30 concerts, most of them original productions, with a strong focus on chamber music and a wide range of repertoires: classical, opera, film music, folk traditions, contemporary music, tango, and cross‑genre projects (jazz, fusion, klezmer, minimalism, improvisation, electroacoustic). Tributes to St Francis of Assisi, Verdi, Britten, and Ligeti also enrich the programme.
Running in parallel are 30 advanced training courses led by 35 international faculty members, welcoming 300 young musicians selected from over 650 applicants. Aimed at graduates and emerging talents, the courses foster cultural exchange and offer the most outstanding students (around 100) the opportunity to perform alongside their mentors in the Festival concerts, creating a true “music workshop” where education and artistic production coexist in a vibrant intergenerational dialogue.
A combination of qualities that positions the Festival among the most competitive on the international stage.
